Ouimette, George (9 JUN 1879 - 8 SEP 1939)

Masonic rites were conducted for George M. Ouimette at Billman’s Funeral Home in Minneapolis, Sunday afternoon at three o’clock.

Mr. Ouimette, although in poor health for the last 12 years, died suddenly at his home, Friday afternoon of bronchitis and asthma.

George Ouimette was born June 9, 1879 in the Town of Holton, attended school and was graduated from Colby, Wis. As a young man he was employed by the Wis. Central Railroad as cashier. Later he became cashier of the Abbotsford Bank.

About 12 years ago he and his family moved to Minneapolis where Mr. Ouimette assisted in the law office of his son, Milton.

Mr. Ouimette belonged to the Order of Free and Accepted Masons, having held the office of Master of the local lodge and the Colby lodge.

He is survived by his widow and six children: Milton, Robert and James of Minneapolis; Mrs. Ed Baertschy, Eau Claire; Lillian of Wyoming and Elaine of Sparta.

His mother, Mrs. Clara Davis of Abbotsford; four brothers: Charles Ouimette of Hazelhurst, William of Park Falls, Nelson of Abbotsford, Floyd of Flint, Mich.; and four sisters: Mrs. May Wiesen and Mrs. Ouida Tracey of Duluth, Mrs. Dave Johnson of Minneapolis and Jane of Lomira, Calif., also survive.

All the immediate relatives except the sister, Jane, and brother, Floyd, were present for the funeral services. Others who attended included Mrs. Nelson Ouimette, Abbotsford; Mrs. Wm. Ouimette, Park Falls; James Tracey, Duluth; Mr. and Mrs. Cub Smith, Mrs. Mabel Hendrickson and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Rice of Minneapolis; Mrs. A. Dillon and daughter of Chippewa Falls and many relatives and friends.
