Poppe, Hulda (21 May 1875 - 16 February 1949)

Mrs. Hulda Poppe, 73, died at her home February 16 (1949). Funeral services were held Sunday, February 20, at 1:30 p.m. from the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Globe. Burial was made in the parish cemetery. The Rev. Adolph Schumann officiated.

Hulda Poppe was born May 21, 1875, in Germany. When she was 12 years old she came to the United States with her parents. Her family settled on a farm in Pine Valley, which is now known as the Ed Marg farm. She received her education in Germany and in the Pine Valley Mound School.

On June 28, 1898, she was united in marriage to Charles Poppe. After her marriage she and her husband located on a farm in the Town of Weston, now owned by her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Hagedorn.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1928. She continued to live on the farm until 1942. She spent the next two years with her daughters. In 1944 she came to live in Neillsville.

Mrs. Poppe was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Globe. She is survived by six daughters: Mrs. Alvin (Esther) Meihack; Mrs. Ervin (Eva) Hemp, Mrs. Arno (Frances) Durst; Mrs. Leo (Clara) Hemp; Mrs. Julius (Henrietta) Hagedorn, all of Neillsville; and Mrs. La Verne (Sophia) Johnson, Mount Horeb. Also surviving are seven grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Fred (Minnie) Kiefat; and three brothers, August, Frank and William Marg, all preceded her in death. Mrs. Arnold Ebert and Miss Ruby Meihack were in charge of the flowers.

Horeb.
