Zimmer, Gladys (5 December 1888 - 11 March 1949)

Mrs. Phil Zimmer, 60, died at the home of her brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Free, Friday, March 11 at 1 a.m. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home, the Rev. N. J. Dechant officiating.

Gladys Free was born December 5, 1888, at Neillsville. She received her education in the Neillsville schools and was graduated from Neillsville High School. She taught in rural schools for some time. She was employed by Dr. J. H. Brooks and the Woelffer drug store. She also worked for many years in the Neillsville Laundry, with the exception of the past year.

She was married to Phil Zimmer February 25, 1924. They celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary the last part of February.

On March 7th she and her husband were planning to leave for Milwaukee for a visit. She became ill just before leaving and was taken by ambulance to the home of her brother, Tom Free, where she passed away.

She is survived by her husband; six sisters, Mrs. Beatrice Waters, Humbird; Mrs. G. (May) St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. T. R. (Marian) McCalvey, Pequot Lake, Minn.; Mrs. A. E. (Elizabeth) Babcock, Iola, Kan.; Mrs. Harry (Ruth) Zimmerman, Medila, Minn.; Mrs. L. M. (Helen) Meyer, Neillsville; three brothers, Percy Free, Withee; Tom free, Neillsville; and George Free, of Hamilton, Mont. Two brothers, Wilson and Walter, preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were: George Zimmerman, Dave Parry, Art Haugen, Harry Wasserberger, Nick Scherer, and Ernest H. Snyder.

Miss Betty Larson sang, "In the Garden," accompanied by Mrs. Jess Scott at the piano.

Tormey, Withee; Mrs. Beatrice Waters and Mrs. Nina Stuve, Humbird; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Zimmerman, Madelia, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. G. F. St. Thomas and Helen, St. Paul, Minn.; and Mr. and Mrs. T. R. McCalvey and Thomas of Pequot Lake, Minn.
