Bereza, William (3 Apr. 1915 - 6 Sept. 2008)

THORP William Bereza, 93, of Lublin died Saturday, Sept. 6, at the Gilman Care Center. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12, at the Thorp Funeral Home. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Stanislaus Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday with a 6 p.m. rosary service and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday, both at the funeral home.

William was born April 3, 1915, in Chicago to Anton and Paranka (Krasota) Bereza. He worked in the CCC Camps before his induction into the U.S. Army on Feb. 2, 1941. He served overseas during World War II until his honorable discharge July 3, 1945. He married Mary Makowski on Sept. 5, 1953, in Lublin. She preceded him in death Sept. 14, 1995. The couple farmed on William's family's farm. He also worked as a handyman in the Lublin area, doing plumbing, electrical and carpentry work. He plowed snow for the town of Roosevelt during the 1960s and installed oil furnaces for Montgomery Wards in Thorp during the 1970s.

He is survived by his children, William Bereza, Battle Creek, Mich., Marcella (Frank) Czahor, Gilman, Peter Bereza, Moreno Valley, Calif., and Jane (Greg) Kline, Apple Valley, Minn., and by three grandchildren.
