Russell, Willemette (Marriage - 22 May 1949)

Willemette Russell, daughter of Mrs. A. E. Russell of Neillsville, became the bride of Glenn W. Roberts, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Roberts, in a double-ring ceremony at the Zion Evangelical Reformed Church Sunday afternoon.

The ceremony was performed by the Rev. N. J. Dechant before 100 guests. The church was decorated with palms, white gladioli and candle tapers.

The bride wore a pretty white French ninon and lace gown with a finger-tip veil. She carried a white orchid and lilies of the valley. Her maid of honor was Doris Counsell of Menomonie, who was dressed in white organdie over pale blue.

Also attending her were Jean Middleton of Chicago, who wore a gown of white organdie over yellow; and Miss Bobbye Ann carried pink Pinocchio roses, and the Misses Counsell and Middleton carried yellow goldilock roses.

John Roberts of Mankato, Minn., brother of the groom, and Robert Hemp acted as best men. Ushers were Robert Scott and Danny Patey.

Walter Keller sang "Because" and "Through the Years," accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Jess W. Scott.

A wedding reception was held in the Merchants Hotel for 100 guests.

The young couple left that evening on a wedding trip which will take them into Canada. They will be at home at 182 ½ South Hewett Street after July 1.

The bride is a graduate of Neillsville High School, with the class of 1945. She has been assisting in the stores owned by her mother.

Mr. Roberts also was graduated from Neillsville High School in 1945, and is the manager of Russell’s Hardware and Furniture stores.

Out-of-town guests who attended the wedding and reception, included: Mrs. Roy Fitch of Madison, Mr. and Mrs. John Bornhofen of Merrill, Mr. and Mrs. S. R. Stephens and Jack Crossman of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. George Wolff of Chetek, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. King and Mr. and Mrs. John Roberts and son, all of Mankato, Minn.
