Weekly Happenings In and Around Colby

Geo. S. Cook, of near Unity, was a business visitor in our city Tuesday connected with the Harmony Coop. Produce Co.

Frank Jordan, of the U.S.S. Frederick, arrived home Friday of last week on a thirty day furlough. Frank has made 12 trips across the ocean, 7 during war time and 5 since the armistice was signed bringing back troops.

Wm. Meyers and family of near Unity, Tuesday of this week moved into the Eichlepp house recently vacated by Prof. Williams. Mr. Meyers and two sons, Chas. and William are employed at the bank building which is being remodeled.

Albert Trader and William Behnke, father and father-in-law respectively of Wm. Trader, of the town of Frankfort, left for their home in Sullivan, Wis., after a week’s visit. Herald and Laverna, children of Wm. Trader, accompanied them to spend a few weeks with their grand parents.

James Murphy, of Carlton, Kewaunee County, left Monday noon for Wausau after a short visit at the John Fitzgibbons home. Mr. Murphy is one of the oldest settlers in Kewaunee county but is now enjoying life and making a tour of several weeks duration among relatives over the state.

Rev. J. W. Grosshuesch left Tuesday morning for Philadelphia to be in attendance at the committee meeting of the general synod of the Reformed church to consider the problem for the support of invalid ministers. He expects to be absent about five weeks traveling in the interests of the "Society for the Support of Ministers."

Miss Mary Fox, chief operator of the Owen exchange of the Clark County Telephone Co., came up from that city Tuesday morning to become better acquainted with the methods of the local exchange in the handling of the business. It will be remembered that the Owen exchange was recently purchased by the Clark County Telephone Co., the main office of which is located in Colby, Wis.

Mr. and Mrs. John Werner left for Marshfield Tuesday morning returning in the afternoon accompanied by their daughter Adelia who has been in the hospital the past six weeks during which time she underwent two serious operations.
