Walter, Anna M. (8 DEC 1905 - 13 SEP 2008)

Anna M. Walter, 102, Neillsville, formerly of Loyal, died on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at the Neillsville Memorial Home. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at St, Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal. The Rev. Woodrow Pace officiated. Burial followed in St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bill Hoffman, Jim Walter, Joe Walter Jr., Allan Walter, Anthony Walter and John Walter.

Anna Mary Walter was born on Dec. 8, 1905, in Loyal, to George and Mary (nee Hoeser) Walter. She was raised on the family farm in the town of York and received her education at Pleasant View School and St. Anthony’s Catholic School. She worked at the Loyal Café for five years, before moving to Park Falls, where she worked at Metz Resort, as a cook, and waitress for two years. She then moved to Manitowish Waters, where she worked at Rudy Rest Haven Resort, for 15 years, until her retirement. She moved back to the family farm in 1968, and resided with her brother, Anthony, and his wife, Beatrice. She took care of them until their deaths, and continued to reside on the farm until entering the nursing home in October 2002. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and its PCCW. She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her family and friends, gardening, Flowers, cooking, canning, and baking.

Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-grandnieces, and great-great-nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Mary Schecklman; and five brothers, George Walter, John Walter, Joe Walter, Louie Walter and Anthony Walter Sr.
