Splendid Lecture

Lt. Oakley Parkhill of Abbotsford, Wis., gave a splendid lecture at the Opera House Monday evening. He was greeted by a good audience who were more than pleased with his talk. Mr. Parkhill has visited Greenwood on several different occasions and is one of the best speakers in this section of the state. His talk Monday was educational as well as patriotic. Mr. Parkhill is a Tuscania survivor and was decorated with the U.S. distinguished service cross for extraordinary heroism in action in the Argonne Forest. If you ever have a chance to attend his lecture do so as you will be more than repaid for your attendance.

Lt. Oakley L. Parkhill To Give Lecture Here

It is with pleasure we announce that Lt. Oakley L. Parkhill of Abbotsford will give his popular lecture and chalk talk at the Colby Opera house tomorrow (Friday) night. Lt. Parkhill acted as Abbotsford correspondent to the Phonograph before answering his country’s call and, from the reports of his lectures which he has been giving in different parts of the state, he lectures as well as he used to correspond and that means "some pen." Here is what the Thorp Courier said about his lecture delivered there a short time ago: "A well filled hall of people listened to his story and were much pleased with his vivid description of his observations while overseas. His account of the survivors of the Tuscania torpedoed off the Irish Coast where nearly 200 American soldiers lost their lives proved intensely interesting. Lt. Parkhill was awarded a U.S. Distinguished Service cross and a French Croix De Guerre for extraordinary bravery on the field of battle. Be sure to hear him, the price of admission are but 15 and 30 cents.
