LAST RITES HELD SATURDAY FOR FORMER RESIDENT HERE

Funeral services for E. B. Thompson, Merrill auditor, who died at Holy Cross hospital in Merrill on Wednesday, Jan. 12, were conducted at the Presbyterian church here Saturday afternoon by Thomas Thompson, editor of the Rockford (Ill.) Register Republican and Rockford Morning Star.

It was the third time Mr. Thompson, a former clergyman, had officiated at the funeral of a member of his own family in Abbotsford, Wis. Burial took place in the Thompson lot in the Abbotsford cemetery.

During the services the Twenty-third Psalm and Tennyson’s "Crossing the Bar" were read and Prof. S. J. Paynter, accompanied by Mrs. Wm. Berger, sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere" and "Abide With Me."

Pallbearers were two brothers, Carl and Otto; a nephew, Dr. Edward Everetts, and three sons-in-law, Palmer Michelson, Kermit Berg and Martin Barz.

Relatives who attended included Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Everts and son Dr. E. Everets, Milwaukee; Carl Thompson, Barrington, Ill., Martin Thompson, Superior; Otto Thompson, Kaukauna; Mr. and Mrs. Olin Thompson, Rib Lake; Mrs. Mary Thompson and son Lloyd, Mosinee. Many relatives and friends from Merrill and surrounding towns also attended.

E. B. Thompson was born in Abbotsford on May 20, 1882, and worked as express manager for the Soo Line for a number of years. He was an auditor for the Jewel Tea company for 15 years prior to his retirement in November, 1936.

Surviving are Mrs. Thompson the former Anna Breivogel of Oshkosh, and three daughters, Mrs. Palmer Michelson, Mrs. Kermit Berg, and Mrs. Martin Barz, all of Merrill.
