Strebe, August (13 JUNE 1856 - 29 MAR 1938)

RITES SATURDAY FOR AUST STREBE

Funeral services for August Strebe, 81, who died Tuesday morning at his home here of old age complications, will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the home and at 2:30 o’clock under the auspices of the Masonic order, at the Presbyterian church. The Rev. E. L. Hoover will officiate and burial will be made in the Abbotsford cemetery.

Mr. Strebe was born June 13, 1856, in Germany and came to this country at the age of ten with his mother and brothers, settling in Calumet county, where he lived until 20 years of age. They then moved to the town of Johnson, where both his mother and his wife died. He was married again in 1922 to Mabel Dickenson of Abbotsford, Wis.

For 22 years he acted as supervisor on the Marathon county board and also served as village trustee and health officer for several years.

Surviving Mr. Strebe are his wife, two daughters and four sons; Mrs. Gertrude McIntyre, Big Harbor, Wash.; Mrs. Ida Provinski, Abbotsford; George Strebe, Amherst; Frank Strebe, Sheridan; Abe Strebe, town of Holton; and Pearl Strebe, Livingston, N.J. Two brothers, Gust Strebe, Abbotsford, and Herman Strebe, Alameda, California, also survive.
