Empey, Henry L. (17 NOV 1878 - 20 May 1938)

EMPEY RITES HELD TUESDAY

Henry L. Empey was the victim of bronchial pneumonia when he died last Friday afternoon, May 20th, at St. Joseph’s hospital in Marshfield.

The deceased was born in the Town of Holton, Nov. 17, 1878. He was married to Mary Janicke on Dec. 14, 1906 at Dorchester, Wis. Mr. Empey was a farmer and was also a business partner in the firm of Schade and Empey, known also as the Milan Produce Company.

For about seven months Mr. Empey had been ill. At the time of his death he was 59 years old.

Survivors of the deceased are his widow, Mrs. Empey; two sons, Nels and William; three daughters, Vivian, Mrs. Irene Singleton and Mrs. Mildred Denzin. All of the children live at or near home except Mrs. Singleton who lives in Chicago. Three brothers and two sisters also survive: John and Robert Empey, Terry, Mont.; George Empey and Mrs. Nellie Boronsky, Abbotsford and Mrs. Exxie Schaus, Edgar.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 1 o’clock from the home and at 2 o’clock from St. John’s Evangelical church at Milan. The Rev. E. E. Schieler, assisted by the Rev. H. Hanson of Green Valley, conducted the services.

The Rev. Hjalmer Hanson, a relative of the family of the deceased, sang several solos during the services. He was accompanied at the organ by his wife.

Burial followed in the Lutheran cemetery at Milan. The pallbearers were Henry Venzke, Bernard Schade, Otto Denzin, Alvin Cole, Rudolph Paul and George Burr.

Those in charge of the flowers were Orleata and Alvina Cole, Jeanette Boronsky, Luella Venzke and Bernice Schauer.
