Vircks, Elizabeth (Marriage - 11 June 1938)

On Saturday, June 11th, Miss Elizabeth Vircks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Vircks of Medford, and Arthur Meschefske of Abbotsford, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Meschefske of Stetsonville, exchanged marriage vows in a double ring ceremony at the Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stetsonville at one o’clock in the afternoon. The Rev. G. O. Krause officiated.

The bride wore a white silk lace gown with a train, fashioned Princess style with a row of white satin buttons down the front. A coronet of lace and pearls held in place the long tulle veil. She carried a bouquet of calla lilies and ferns.

Miss Evelyn Meschefske, sister of the groom, attended the bride as maid of honor; Miss Dorothy Meschefske, another sister, and Miss Louella Lindboe acted as brides maids. All wore gowns made alike of silk organza, the maid of honor in yellow, the bridesmaids in blue and peach. Their face and shoulder length veils of tulle matched their gowns and hung from matching coronets of satin. The bridesmaids had corsage bouquets of mixed flowers, lilies of the valley and sweet peas.

The groom was attended by Arthur Vircks, brother of the bride. Willard Vircks, also brother of the bride, and Alvin Platteter of West Allis acted as attendants of the groom.

Following the wedding a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. Dinner was served at six o’clock to about 150 guests after which the young couple and their friends danced at Midway Pavilion.

Both the bride and groom are graduates of the Dorchester High School, the bride with the class of 1934 and the groom with the class of 1932. The groom also finished a course at the Lincoln School of Aviation.

They will make their home in Abbotsford in the early fall where the groom is employed as custodian of the Armory, a position he has held for the past three years.
