Machlett, Margaret (17 MAR 1856 - 11 SEP 1938)

MACHLETT FUNERAL IS CONDUCTED TUESDAY

Curtiss, Wis. - Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Machlett, 82, a resident of Curtiss for the past 62 years, who died Sunday morning, Sept. 11, at the home of her son, Fred F. Machlett, following a lingering illness, were conducted Tuesday afternoon.

At 1:30 o’clock services were conducted at the Machlett home, and at 2 o’clock the Rev. W. L. Anderson officiated at the funeral rites at the Evangelical Lutheran church at Curtiss. Interment was made in the family lot in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Machlett, nee Margaret Meyers, was born in Germany March 17, 1856. She came to this country with her parents, settling in New Holstein where she was married to Henry Machlett. In 1876 Mr. and Mrs. Machlett came to Curtiss engaging in the hotel business in the early logging era of the community, later building a hardware store. In 1920, they retired.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. O. C. Cox, Kennan; two sons, Benjamin Machlett, Eau Claire, and Fred F. Machlett, Curtiss; 18 grand children, 10 great grand children, and one sister, Mrs. Kate Kleinhanz, New Holstein. Mr. Machlett died in December 1927, and a son and two daughters also preceded her in death.
