Kaucnik, Mary (7 OCT 1876 - 3 JUN 1946)

Mrs. Mary Kaucnik, 69, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), who had been in poor health the past two years, died at 3:15 p.m., Monday at the Legault Hospital, Owen, where she was a patient the past 10 days.

Funeral service were held Thursday morning at 8:30 o’clock at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Suda, three miles northeast of Greenwood, and at 9 o’clock at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. The Rev. John Novak officiated at the services, and burial was made in the Greenwood Catholic Cemetery.

Mrs. Kaucnik, nee Virjent, was born in Yugoslavia, Oct. 7, 1876, and was married to Joseph Kaucnik in Oct. 1901. Soon after their marriage they came to the United States and lived in Waukegan, Ill., for a number of years before going to a farm at Willard (Clark Co.).

In 1914 they moved to a farm five miles south of Owen, where she lived until four eyars ago. Since then she made her home with the Sudas. Her husband died in 1940, and two sisters also are dead.

Surviving children are Joseph Jr., Cleveland, Ohio; Mrs. Marie Kuznik, Waukegan, Ill.; Vencel, Owen; Mrs. Ann Suda, Greenwood; and Mrs. Nelly Hahto, Owen. There are 20 grandchildren, and three sisters live in Cleveland, Ohio.
