Thorson, Maxine H. (29 JUN 1946)

Maxine Harriette Thorson was an especially attractive bride as she approached the front of the Congregational Church on the arm of her father, to the popular strain of Lohengrin’s Wedding March, played by Miss Rowene Gabriel, attired in a gown of white nylon with a high round neckline, net yolk, and tight fitted waistline, and a long train. The gown was completed with a fingertip double net veil. She carried a shower bouquet of gardenias and gladiolas, to exchange the secred vows of matrimony with Lawrence P. Christophersen. During the ceremony "I Love You Truly" and "O Promise Me" were sung by Eugene Koplitz of Withee.

This lovely church ceremony was performed at three o’clock Saturday afternoon, June 29, 1946, in the Owen, Wis. (Clark Co., Wis.) Congregational Church. Rev. C. E. Guthrie of Eau Claire reading the wedding service.

The bride, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Thorson of Withee, is a graduate of the Withee High School with the class of 1943, and for the past several years has been an office employee of the Western Condensing Co.

The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Christophersen of Withee, also graduated from the Withee High School with the class of 1943. He was discharge from the service in Sept. of 1945, and since that time has attended the College of Commerce in Minneapolis.

A very close friend, Bernadean Schinke, Owen, was Miss Thorson’s maid of honor, and wore a long waisted full skirt styled gown of blue taffeta. Bridesmaids Virginia Awe and Marian Ammentorp wore gowns of pink taffeta, identical in style to that of Miss Schinke’s. All wore net headdresses and carried bouquets of white and pink carnations. Kathleen Thorson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Thorson of Thorp, was flower girl and wore a beautiful gown of white silk, floor length, and carried a basket of pink roses.

The bridegroom was attended by his best man, Clarence Christophersen of South St. Paul, Minn. Both wore the conventional business suit and a carnation boutonniere.

Ushers at the service were two close friends of the couple, Wm. A. Gutsche, Jr. and Jack A. Warns.

Late that afternoon friends and relatives of the couple honored them at a large reception given in the church basement. The room was decorated with pink, white and blue streamers, all coming to a point at the center of the room where large wedding bells were suspended from the ceiling. For the occasion large colorful bouquets of spring and summer flowers were place throughout the church and the church basement, and arranged by Mrs. V. A. Hansen of Withee.

Eight grandparents of the bridal couple were able to attend the wedding. They were: Mr. and Mrs. Bob Madsen, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Olson, Mr. and Mrs. Theo. Alberts and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Thorson, Sr.

That evening the newlyweds left on a week’s honeymoon trip to the northern section of the state.
