Whittlinger, Alma (19 OCT 1869 - 31 MAR 1943)

Funeral services were conducted at St. John’s Lutheran church at Riplinger at 2 p.m. Saturday for Mrs. Alma Whittlinger (cemetery record says Wittlinger), 73, who passed away at St. Joseph’s hospital in Marshfield at 10:30 a.m. last Wednesday of a heart ailment. Mrs. Whittlinger had been a patient at the hospital since Mar. 13, having suffered a fractured hip as a result of a fall.

The body lay in state at the Central Wisconsin Cooperative Funeral Home from Friday noon until 11 a.m. Saturday, when it was taken to the Riplinger church. The Rev. Gerhardt Reiff officiated at the rites. Burial took place in the family lot on the Beaver township cemetery.

Alma Pipkorn was born in Germany on Oct. 19, 1869, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Pipkorn. She came to the United States with her parents when only a year old. She spent her girlhood and was educated at Freemont, Wis., where she was married to Charles Whittlinger. For several years after their marriage they lived at Dale, and 39 years ago came to the town of Beaver.

Mr. Whittlinger and one son preceded her in death. For the past few years she had lived at the home of her son, Charles Whittlinger Jr., in the town of Beaver. Surviving besides Charles is another son, Harvey, of Curtiss, and seven daughters, Mrs. George (Lena) Bauer of Wisconsin Rapids, Mrs. Fred (Clara) Clouse of Loyal, Mrs. Walter (Esther) Ayers and Mrs. Henry (Nada) Miller of Riplinger, Mrs. Julius (Viola) Lange of Owen, Mrs. Otto (Gertrude) Becker of Unity and Mrs. Milton (Lulu) Songstad of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Three sisters and three brothers also survive.
