Lien, Violet L. (1 Apr. 1922 - 27 Mar. 2006)

Violet L. Lien, 83, Port Edwards, died Monday, March 27, 2006, at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home, Port Edwards.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 31, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. Burial will be in West Spencer Cemetery. The Rev. Karl Rose will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2006, at Community Funeral Home, Spencer, and from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Maurina/Community Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Violet was born April 1, 1922, in the town of Brighton, Marathon County, to George and Louise (Wellnitz) Schwantes. She received her education in Spencer. Violet and Giles Lien were married April 29, 1944, in Janesville. He died May 29, 1971. Violet grew up in the Spencer area and moved to Janesville in the early 1940s, where she was employed by General Motors until retiring in 1980. She moved to Marshfield in 2001, residing at Well's Nature View for three years and then to Edgewater Haven Nursing Home. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Violet is survived by her brothers and sister, Frank (Marilyn) Schwantes of Orondo, Wash., Carolyn (Vern) Melim of Willowbrook, Ill., and William (Doris) Schwantes of Port Edwards. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and six brothers, Donald, George, John, Lenard, Elmer and Karl Schwantes.
