Amo, Joan Yvonne (Marriage - 3 September 1949)

Miss Joan Yvonne Amo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Archie P. Amo of 6 McKinley St., Black River Falls, became the bride of Floyd E. Short, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Short of Granton, on September 3, at 2:30 o’clock.

Vows were said in the Evangelical Lutheran Church at Black River Falls before an altar decorated with mixed gladiolas. The Rev. Raymond Huss performed the double ring ceremony. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a powder blue suit with black accessories. Her flowers were a talisman rose corsage.

Mrs. LaVern Gaier, sister of the groom, who was matron-of-honor, wore a grey sharkskin suit.

The groom was attended by Robert J. Amo, brother of the bride. Charles Scherer and LaVern Gaier, both of Neillsville acted as ushers.

Miss Betty Amundson sang, "At Dawning," and "I Love You Truly," accompanied by Mrs. Bert Engebretson at the piano.

A wedding reception for approximately 50 guests was held immediately after the ceremony in the church parlors.

The young couple left on an extended honeymoon in the west.

The bride was graduated from Black River Falls High School with the class of 1948. She has since been employed as a dental assistant.

The groom attended Neillsville High School and is interested in the Short Fur Farm, where the couple will make their home.

Stair of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Fred Angfang of St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. Ed Pearson of Merrillan; Mr. and Mrs. James Hughes, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Magnuson, Mrs. Alfred Magnuson, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Short, Jerry smith, Charles Scherer, Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Gaier, Mrs. Lottie Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Hughes and daughters, Bettee, Bonnie and Mary, all of Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Short, Dale Short, Mr. and Mrs. William Vine, all of Granton; David Dempsey of Minneapolis; Mrs. Allen Linster of Clear Lake; Miss Shirley Magnuson of Minneapolis; and Robert Cochrane of Morgantown, W. V.
