Horton, Emma (27 March 1884 - 1949)

Funeral services for Mrs. William Horton, 65, were held at the Bergemann Funeral Home September 2, 1949 with the Rev. Virgil Nulton officiating. Burial was made in Dells Dam cemetery.

Mrs. Horton, nee Emma Phillips was born on March 27, 1884 at Viroqua, Wis. She was married to William Horton in 1912 at Warrens, Minn., and moved to a farm south of Neillsville in 1915. There she spent the remainder of her life. She was a member of the Baptist Church and taught a Sunday school class.

Mrs. Horton died at the Wisconsin General Hospital at Madison; due to complications of old age. She is survived by her husband. Her parents, one brother and one sister preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were Ladd Holub, Erwin Holub, Guy Schultz, Ed Holub, Edward Murphy and Fred McCarty.

Mrs. Fred McCarty and Lorraine Holub were in charge of the flowers.

Hazel Millard sang two selections.

Out-of-town relatives at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Leland Schilling, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Schlwitz, Fall Creek; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Horton, Merrillan; Mrs. Esther Green, Merrillan; Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Schultz, Hatfield; Mrs. David Planert, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Schilling, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Schilling, Victor Horton, and Mrs. Emilie Schilling, all of Altoona; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sturdevant, Cashton; Clayton Williams, Cashton; Mrs. Herbert Natter, Mrs. Edward Dams, Mrs. Henry Zastoupil, and Miss Edith Barber, all of Tomah.
