Fischer, LaVerne A. (14 JUL 1946)

St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church at Medford (Taylor Co., Wis.) was the scene of the nuptial ceremony at which Miss LaVerne Ann Fischer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Fischer, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), was claimed in marriage by Henry E. Harder, Seymour, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Harder, Medford. The Rev. L. K. Urlaub read the wedding vows at 2:30 p.m., July 14, 1946. Lois Forehand and Lila Brede sang "Jesus Still Leads On" and "The Lord’s Prayer." Mrs. Joe Boor was organist.

The bride approached the altar, which was decorated with summer flowers, on the arm of her father. She wore an entrained wedding gown of embroidered eyelet and net and a full length veil inserted with lace and caught to a beaded tiara. She carried red roses interspersed with swansonia and tied with satin bows. Her necklace and earrings were gifts from the groom.

Miss Geraldine Purdy, Medford, in a pink taffeta and net frock and matching blusher veil, was maid of honor. Miss Barbara Fischer, a sister of the bride, and Miss June Gaab, in identical dresses of pink and blue net over taffeta, were bridesmaids. They carried carnations and wore pearl earrings, gifts from the bride.

Arnold Schmidt, Withee, a cousin of the bride, Fred Dable, Jr., and Vernon Hurtienne attended the groom.

At 5 o’clock supper was served to 200 guests at the Fischer home canopied with pink, blue and white streamers, centered with wedding bells. Bowls of roses added to the decorations, and a three-tier wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and groom ornament, formed the centerpiece on the table.

That evening a wedding dance was given at Spreen’s Pavilion at Lake Esadore, Frank’s Melodians provided the music for dancing.

Mrs. Harder was graduated from the Withee High School with the class of 1943 and has been employed by the Medford Co-op Store. Her husband is engaged in farming.

Guests included Mrs. Fred Spreen, Herbert Spreen, Leonard Spreen and Beatrice Spreen, Paradise, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Tony Halowinski, Mr. and Mrs. Julius Drombrowski, Seymour; Mark Gallagher, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. George Watts, William Hilgendorf, Fred Hilgendorf, Minneapolis.
