Schuette, Irene #2 (31 AUG 1946)

The South Green Grove Lutheran Church was the scene of a beautiful candlelight wedding ceremony on Saturday, Aug. 31, 1946, when Miss Irene Schuette, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Schuette of Unity, became the bride of Wayne Olson, Curtiss, Wis. (Clark Co., Wis.), son of Mrs. Emma Skinner of Bloomington, Wis. The ceremony was performed at two o’clock p.m. when the Rev. M. C. Goetsch, pastor of the parish, read the double ring service. Enhancing the beauty of the ceremony was the special decorations of the church as large baskets of cut flowers added to the occasion with their beauty. Mrs. M. C. Goetsch played the wedding march on the organ and previous to ceremony Miss Romona Johnson, accompanied by her mother sang, "Be Thou Our Guide" and "Till the End of Time."

The bride chose for the memorable occasion a gown of white satin with a long train, with a sweetheart neckline and long pointed sleeves. Her headdress was a beaded pearl crown with a fingertip veil with lace trim. She carried a lovely bridal bouquet of white lilies and sweet peas and with forget-me-nots on streamers.

Bridesmaid, Blanche Schuette, a sister of the bride, wore a gown of white nylon chiffon with sprays of fuchsia colored flowers in the skirt. Her bouquet was made up of lace flowers and sweet peas.

The bridegroom was attended by Franklin Zimmerman.

Following the ceremony a supper and reception was given for the couple at the home of the bride’s parents. Colorful streamers decorated the dining room of the home and a large three-tier wedding cake made an attractive and appropriate centerpiece for the decorated table. That evening a wedding dance was given at the Village Hall in the village of Curtiss.

The bride is a graduate of the Colby High School and the Eau Claire Vocational School. Previous to her marriage she has been employed as a clerk in the Curtiss State Bank, a position she will retain.

Mr. Olson is a graduate of the Owen High School with the class of 1934. He has made farming his occupation, hover, during the war her served with the armed forces in the army and spent three years overseas. The newlyweds are making their home on the groom’s farm near Curtiss.
