Fillipp, Tovio R. (2 NOV 1901 - 9 FEB 1947)

Relatives and friends of Tovio Richard Fillipp, 45, were shocked late Sunday evening when they learned of his passing away suddenly that night at the farm home of Milton Collier, 14 miles southwest of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), where he was employed. About three weeks ago, while at work cutting timber in the woods, he suffered a light stroke and since that time had been under a physician’s care. Everyone was elated at the progress of his recovery and he himself must have been, being that he left the supper table Sunday night to go to the barn for the first time since he had been afflicted with his stroke, to assist in doing chores. Shortly after arriving in the barn he collapsed and passed away shortly after being removed to the farm home.

Tovio Richard Fillipp had lived in this community for all be 10 years of his life, coming her in 1912 from Wakefield, Mich., where he was born on Nov. 2, 1901. As a young man he was employed for many years at the Owen Box and Crating Co., leaving there to pursue the occupation of farming ten or twelve years ago.

He was unmarried, but is survived by one sister, Mrs. Arthur (Selma) Gilbert, and five brothers, Uno, Owen; Orville, Racine; Vern, Fort Worth, Texas; bill of Waukegan, Ill., and Harold of St. Paul, Minn., and a wide acquaintance of friends he had won for himself by his willingness to work and faithfulness wherever he was employed, and cheerfulness.

Services were conducted yesterday afternoon at two o’clock from the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin) with Rev. Keljo of the Finnish Lutheran Church reading the final rites. Interment was made in the Riverside Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service were Elton and Milton Collier, Eino Luoma, Einar Niemi, Morris and James Devine.
