Walls, William A. (17 OCT 1878 - 24 JUN 1943)

William Arthur Walls, 64, died at 8 o’clock Thursday morning, June 24, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, where he had been taken a week earlier because of a gangrenous appendix. Following the operation, he was convalescing satisfactorily, when paralysis of the bowels set in, and he died the following day.

William Wells, son of Emma and Laurence Walls, was born in Hartford on Oct. 17, 1878. When he was 4 years of age, he came to the town of Loyal with his parents, who settled south of the village. He was married in the town of York on Sept. 25, 1901, to Elva Turner. After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Walls lived on a farm near his boyhood home until 1925, when they came to the village. While living on the farm, Mr. Walls served his school district as a member of the board of education. He was a member of the Mystic Workers society.

After moving to the village, he was employed in places of responsibility working for the Loyal Oil company and the Loyal Canning company for years being an employe of the Cities Service Oil company. His friendly disposition made many fine qualities to be found in Mr. Walls, his love and appreciation of his home and family was outstanding.

Mr. Walls is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Claude (Sybil) Steiner; two grandsons, David and Tommy Steiner, and six sisters, Mrs. Mabel McKenzie of Marshfield, Mrs. Grace Turner of York, Mrs. Flossie McKenzie of Valley, Wash., Mrs. Jessie Allen of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. Nettie Jones of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A daughter died in infancy, and a brother, George Walls, died a few years ago.

Funeral services were conducted at the home at 2 o’clock Sunday afternoon, the Rev. M. E. Taylor, Methodist pastor, officiating. The hymns were sung by Mrs. Calvin Prior and James Colby, with Mrs. Arnold Wickhund as accompanist.

Those who served as pallbearers were Henry Anderegg, Fred Draper, Ray Prior, Albert Castner, William Seeman and Harold Tucker. Those having charge of the flowers were Mrs. Bob Wheling, Mrs. Henry Anderegg, Mrs. William Evans, Mrs. Albert Castner, Mrs. W. I. Mack.

Burial was in the Loyal cemetery.

Mrs. Mabel McKenzie and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Anderson of Marshfield attended the funeral services.

Sympathy is extended to the bereaved relatives by the Tribune.
