Foelske, Michael (18 MAR 1884 - 2 AUG 1943)

Michael Foelske passed away at the home of his son, Otto Foelske, on Aug. 2, at 3:15 a.m. He was born in Germany on Oct. 8, 1858, and came to this country with his parents when about six years of age They settled in Washington county, Wis., where he grew to manhood.

He was married to Ottilia Kleist on Mar. 18, 1884, at Merton, in Washington county. They lived there until 1896, when they moved to a farm he purchased in the town of Beaver. He lived on this place until the time of his death. His wife preceded him in death in 1922.

He is survived by four children; namely, Mrs. William (Ida) Litka, Albert, Mrs. Herman (Elsie) Litka and Otto, all of Loyal; two brothers, Fred and Edward, both of Hartford, and three sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Melius of Adell, Mrs. Peter Anderson of Burbank, Cal., and Mrs. Charles Tesch of Hartford; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Three sisters preceded him in death.

Mr. Foelske had been in good health until late winter, when he was stricken with old age complications..

Funeral services were held at the Loyal Methodist church on Wednesday, Aug. 4, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Myron E. Taylor officiating. The songs, "Beyond the Sunset" and "The City Four-Square," were sung by Mrs. Calvin Prior and Mrs. G. W. Nelson, with Miss Bernice Draper as accompanist. Burial was in the Loyal cemetery.

Pallbearers were Sigward Johnson, Otto Hamann, Charles Wehling, Hugh Darton, Otto Goehring and Alex Mrotek. The flower carriers were Mrs. Sigward Johnson, Mrs. Otto Hamann, Mrs. Laurence Firnstahl, Mrs. Hugh Darton, Mrs. Charles Wehling, Mrs. Otto Goehring and Mrs. Alex Mrotek.

Those from away who attended the funeral were: Edward Foelske, Mrs. Charles Tesch and Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hetzel of Hartford; Mrs. Carolyn Melius, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Melius and Mrs. John Seibenhaler of Adell; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Melius and son, Mrs. Bertha Pickrun and Mr. and Mrs. Bartell of Greenwood, and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Bauer and family of Marshfield.
