Klein, Lauretta (3 MAY 1947)

St. Andrew Church, Addison and Paulina St., on the north side of Chicago, was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Saturday morning, May 3rd, 1947, when Lauretta Klein, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Klein of 3822 N. Paulina St., became the bride of Harold F. Driscoll, son of Mrs. Nellie Driscoll of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.).

The young couple were united in marriage at solemn high mass with Rev. Thomas Brown officiating, assisted by Rev. Walter Chelminski and Rev. Thomas Cannon, all very dear friends of the young couple.

The bride was given away by her father to the strains of Lohengrin’s Wedding March. Her attendants were Delores Arenberg, maid of honor, Dorothy Driscoll and Eileen Taylor as bridesmaids, Patricia Hughes was the soloist.

The groom’s attendants were John Barrett, best man, Arthur Klein, the bride’s only brother, and Cornelius Driscoll, as ushers. Three other friends assisted as ushers, Nicholas Wolf, Kenneth Denecke and Richard Sousa.

The bride wore the traditional white satin with a long train and a long veil edged with wide lace, with a pearl tiara headpiece. She carried white roses. Her only jewel was a sunburst pin given to her by the groom as a wedding gift.

With her bouquet was a fan-shaped bouquet of white carnations which she placed on the May Altar.

The maid of honor wore yellow taffeta with a matching blusher veil with a matching headpiece.

The bridesmaids wore green taffeta with matching veils and headpieces. They carried bouquet of tea roses.

The bride’s mother wore an aqua dress with matching hat trimmed with tea roses and matching veiling.

The groom’s mother also wore an aqua dress with a dark blue hat with pink roses. They wore corsages of pink carnations.

The day being the fourteenth birthday of the groom’s youngest sister, Isabel, made her specially honored. She wore a corsage of red carnations which matched her outfit.

The wedding breakfast was served to forty-two relatives and friends at the beautiful Svithold Club, after which the group returned to the home of the bride’s parents to visit and view the many beautiful gifts. A light supper was served after which a reception to two hundred followed at Germania Club. Music for dancing was furnished by Bob Adair’s Orchestra and a buffet lunch was served later in the evening. The five tier wedding cake was cut by the bride and groom before their departure. They spent the week at Niagara Falls, followed by a few days at Owen.
