Gorsegner, William #2 (16 JUN 1871 - 16 JUN 1947)

William Gorsegner, who went to Marshfield two years ago to live with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Degner, 411 E. Bakerville St., died at the Degner home Monday, June 16, 1947, his 76th birthday. Before going to Marshfield he farmed at Withee (Clark Co., Wis.). A complication of ailments aggravated by old age, caused his two years’ illness.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, June 19, at 1:30 o’clock from the Baxter and Ritger Funeral Home. The Rev. Raymond H. Browe of Zion Evangelical United Brethren Church, officiated. Burial was made in Yolo Cemetery, Chili.

Mr. Gorsegner was born in Germany June 16, 1871. He was unmarried. He came to America when he was about 18 years old, lived in Milwaukee for two years, and then lived at Chili until the death of his father in 1902. Since then and until going to Marshfield, he had been farming at Withee. His father was Ernest Gorsegner, and his mother, who died in 1909, was Caroline Smith.

Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Henry (Johanna) Degner and Mrs. Annie Jacobson, both of Marshfield, and Mrs. Louise Berthold, Willard.

The following from Withee attended the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Herman Doege, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Buss and daughter Ruby, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Buss, Mrs. Herb Roix, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Buss, Gottlieb Isler, Fred Isler, Joe Melbinger and Nels Myrin.
