Hass, Reuben (30 Mar. 1920 - 21 Feb. 1957)

Reuben Hass of the town of Colby, Wisconsin died of a heart attack at the age of 38 years while doing business at the Security State Bank Thursday afternoon at about 2:30 o’clock. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Christ Lutheran church in Abbotsford, Rev. F. H. Sprengler officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Richard Werth, Reinie Wiersig, Melvin Werth, Harold Werth, La Verne Weber, Gordon Schiller, all cousins. Members of Christ Lutheran Church Men’s Club, Abbotsford, served as honorary bearers.

Mr. Hass was born in the town of Hull on March 30, 1920, and had been farming in the town of Colby since his marriage to Winifred Martens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Martens, which took place on October 23, 1949, in the town of Wien.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Larry, age five, and Ronald, age three; his mother, Mrs. Carl Meinke of Unity, Route 1; two brothers, Roland Hass of Abbotsford and Frank Hass of La Crosse; one sister, Mrs. Elmer (Ella) Rapp of Marshfield; and a half-brother and a half-sister, Norman Meinke and Miss Gertrude Meinke, both of Unity, Wis.

Attending the funeral were many friends and relatives from Unity, La Crosse, Marshfield, Spencer, Edgar, Appleton, Sheboygan, Glidden, Wausau, Phillips, Dorchester, Curtiss, Arpin, Colby, Abbotsford, Fargo, N.D., and Chicago, Ill.

Mr. Hass was well and favorably known here for his industrious and congenial disposition, honest in all his dealings, and always ready to do his duty to the best of his ability.
