Hardrath, William H. #2 (27 FEB 1879 - 22 OCT 1943)

William H. Hardrath, 64, died at his home in the town of Green Grove Friday, Oct. 22, following an illness of only a few days. Death resulted from an acute heart attack.

Mr. Hardrath was born in the town of Kossuth, Manitowoc county, on Feb. 27, 1879. and when a young man went to the states of Oregon and Washington, where he worked on bridge construction. He came to Clark county in 1910 and located on the farm on which he resided at the time of his death. On April 19, 1911, he married Miss Sophia Kluenker of Manitowoc Rapids. He was a charter member of St. Luke’s Lutheran church in the town of Green Grove and also served on the school board.

The body lay in state at the Central Wisconsin Cooperative funeral home in Marshfield where short funeral services were held on Monday afternoon by the Rev. M. C. Goetsch. The body was taken to Manitowoc on Tuesday, and funeral services were held there at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran church, the Rev. T. F. Uetzmann officiating. Burial was made in Evergreen cemetery at Manitowoc.

Surviving, besides his widow, are three daughters, Ellen at home, Grace of Chicago and Caroline of Manitowoc; his aged mother; five brothers, Carl of Holland. Mich., and George, John, Ed, and Emil of Manitowoc, and four sisters, Mrs. William Miller of Reedsville, Mrs. Emma Luedtke and Mrs. F. C. Mrotek of Manitowoc and Esther of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Four brothers, Henry, Ernest, Reinhardt and Frederick, and a half-sister, Mrs. Rudolph Oestreich, preceded him in death,

Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, namely, George Hardrath Jr., Melvin Hardrath, George Kluenker Jr., Frederick Kluenker, Herbert Hardrath and Karl Kluenker.

Out of town relatives and friends attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. William Miller and Mrs. Otto Dahlke of Reedsville; Miss Esther Hardrath, Alvin Hardrath and Miss Martha Rabenhorst of Milwaukee; Carl Hardrath of Holland, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Karnopp, Mrs. Ida Karnopp and Mrs. Henry Ihlenfeldt of Luxemburg; William Rabenhorst, Mrs. Matilda Rabenhorst and Mrs. Ed Benishek of Maribel; Max Hoffman, Mrs. Gerhardt Kohl, Miss Gertrude Goedake, Mrs. Otto Schultz, Mrs. Henry Ricke and Mrs. Christ Goedake, all of Sheboygan; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Broeking and Carl Broeking of Stanley; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Goetz and Victor Goetz of Cadott; Mr. and Mrs. Louis Hoese of Whittlesey; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Fisher, Mr. and Mrs. F. Kinsche and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Woempner of Dorchester; Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Turnquist and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hardrath of Chili, and Greenwood.
