Unity, Wis. - July 25, 1957

Pvt. David O. Carlson, son of Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Carlson of Unity, Route 1, recently graduated from the basic U.S. Army administration course at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. The course included training in typing, army clerical procedures and record keeping. He entered the U.S. Army in February of this year. The 20-year-old soldier was graduated from Colby Union Free High School in 1955.

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bruerer and Marlene and Patsy Danner returned to Chicago after visiting Mrs. Bruerer’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Anton Korntved, for two weeks. Judith Korntved left with them for a visit at the Bruerer home.

Earl E. Stafford of Unity, Route 1, forfeited $15 in Marathon county court for not having a stop light on his car.

Rev. Claude Vander Stoep, who came to Unity in 1952, to accept his first pastorate at Trinity Lutheran church, has submitted his resignation to be effective September 15 of this year. He plans to move with his family to Hanford, Calif., where he will engage in missionary work, an ambition of his for some time.

Mrs. Henry Binning, who had been confined to the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital for many weeks, is recuperating at her home.

Miss June Schultz, who had been visiting relatives here for three weeks, returned to Coral Gables, Fla.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Wiedenhoeft spent several days at the Fred Pauls home at Schofield.

Mr. and Mrs. James Liebelt and family returned to Coos Bay, Ore., after spending two weeks with Mrs. Liebelt’s mother, Mrs. Edith Schjoneman, and other relatives in the community.
