Tonn, Franklin #3 (5 NOV 1889 - 22 JAN 1948)

Funeral services for Franklin Tonn, aged 58, were conducted on Monday afternoon, Jan. 26, from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiated and interment was made at Pink Hill Cemetery.

The deceased, whose sudden death Thursday evening, Jan. 22, 1948, shocked the community, was born in Hoard (Clark Co., Wis.) on Nov. 5, 1889. He grew to manhood here and was married to Miss Anna Schultz on May 22, 1912. Since that time he lived in the village where he was engaged in business for 40 years. He operated a general merchandise store and then was engaged in the tavern business for 37 years. He was stricken with a heart attack while at the old farm home where his brother Arthur Tonn now resides, and passed away almost instantly.

He is survived by his wife, one son Harold, one grandson Jimmy, two brothers, Paul Tonn of Milwaukee, Arthur on the home farm, three sisters, Mrs. Martin (Bertha) Nissen, Glidden, Mrs. Wm. (Anna) Koart, San Gabriel, Calif., Mrs. Ray (Hattie) Staples, Medford, and his aged mother, Mrs. Frank Ton, Sr. One son preceded him in death.

The high esteem in which he was held among his associates was shown by the beautiful floral tributes, and about $200 given in his memory for church activities.

Arthur Lokken, accompanied by Mrs. Jack McCorrison, sang two hymns, "Savior Lead Me" and Abide With Me." Honorary and active pallbearers were Chas. And Wm. Jakel, John and Henry Johnson, Henry Peterson, Melvin Ostenson, Otto Dunow, Ervin Koerner, Richard Pohl, and Geo. Hoff. The floral tributes were in charge of Mabel and Arlene Meschefske, Mesdames Wilho Maki, Raymond Fredrickson, Clarence Schultz, Albert Schultz, Herbert Kuegler, and Harry Rosenquist.

Out of town relatives attending the rites were Mr. and Mrs. Paul Tonn and son Paul, Jr., Misses Bertha and Gertie Schultz, of Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Byron Tonn, Tulon, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Roland Tonn, Mendota, Ill.; Mrs. Omanda Virch and son Niron Jr., of Peshtigo; Clifford Virch of Oconto; Mrs. Martin Nissen and daughter Mrs. M.
