Mandel, Cecelia (15 Aug. 1879 - 23 Aug. 1957)

Mrs. Ernst Mandel died at her home in Colby Friday morning at 12:30 o’clock at the age of 78 years, a heart attack being the cause of her death. Funeral services were held at 1:30 at the Lulloff Funeral Home and at 2:00 o’clock at Zion Lutheran church, Rev. Wm. Christian officiating, and internment was made in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Green Grove. Miss Jeanne Tesmer sang "Jesus Christ, My Sure Defense" and "I Know That My Redeemer Lives."

Pall bearers were Ervin Kademan, Rueben Kademan, Harry Kademan, Merlin Sebald, Richard Sebald and Leo Mandel. Flowers were in charge of Miss Dorothy Dins, Miss Eveline Wiersig, Mrs. Gary Schmidt, Mrs. Ted Ketterl, Mrs. R. H. Markus and Mrs. Howard Hause.

Mrs. Mandel, the former Cecelia Kademan, was born on August 15, 1879, in Cleveland county. She moved to the town of Green Grove with her parents when two years old. After her marriage on June 24, 1899, to Ernst Mandel, they resided on his farm in Green Grove for several years and then moved to the town of Colby where Mr. Mandel operated a cheese factory for 30 years. Mr. Mandel was the inventor of the Mandel agitator, a cheesemaking device which he patented and later sold. He died in August, 1950.

Mrs. Mandel was a member of Zion Lutheran church of Colby and its Sewing Circle. She will be remembered as a good Christian who always endeavored to perform her duties honestly and well, and, being of a congenial disposition, had many friends who were sorry to hear of her death.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Albert (Edna) Dins of Colby; two sons, Albert Mandel of Colby and Harry Mandel of Unity; two sisters, Mrs. Francis Sebald of Sheboygan Falls and Mrs. Hattie Shay of Eagle Grove, Iowa, two brothers, Edward Kademan of Colby and Oscar Kademan of Curtiss; six grand children, two great grand children. One brother preceded her in death.
