Blair, Effie (24 SEP 1863 - 7 MAY 1948)

Effie Blaire, who had been a resident of this community (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.) for 33 years prior to her leaving here in 1936, was laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery Monday afternoon, May 10, 1948. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist Episcopal Church at Withee at two o’clock with Rev. Johnson of Merrill officiating.

Pallbearers at the service were: Jens A Jensen, Arnold Jensen, Einar Petersen, Dan Andersen, Andrew Olsen and Hans Nielsen.

Effie Blair was born on Sept. 24, 1863, in Hacking Co., Ohio. She met and married her husband John, who preceded her in death, while still living in Ohio. In 1903 the family moved to Wisconsin, settling on a farm in the Town of Hoard where they lived for 25 years before selling and purchasing another farm in the Town of Hixon. Twelve years ago, in 1936, she left this community, moving to Brillion, Wis., in Calumet Co., where she resided for nine years before moving to Merrill, Wis., where she has made her home with her son Roy for the past three years.

She succumbed to a long lingering illness on Friday morning, May 7th, in the hospital at Merrill where she had been a patient for the past six months.

Surviving her are one son, Roy of Merrill, three sisters, Mrs. (Lucy) Wm. McGrady of Rockridge, Ohio, Mrs. Jack (Emma) Stiverson and Marth, who also reside in Ohio; two brothers, Pearl Kuhn and Lewis, who homes are also in Ohio, and four grandchildren, Betty, Richard and Bobby Blair, and Alice Wittrock.
