Wendt, Bernice (6 MAY 1948)

A lovely wedding ceremony attended by the immediate families and relatives of the newlyweds was performed on Thursday afternoon, May 6, 1948, at three-thirty o’clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Buchanan, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), when Miss Bernice Wendt of Marshfield, became the bride of Arvid Shell, also of Marshfield.

The ceremony was officiated at by the Rev. M. L. Anderson of Appleton. The bride, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Wendt of this city (Owen, Clark Co.) chose for the occasion a tan tweed suit with matching brown accessories. The suit was enhanced by a lovely corsage of roses and gardenias. Attending the bride as bridesmaid was her sister, Mrs. M. L. Anderson of Appleton. She wore a gown of medium brown crepe and wore a corsage similar to that of the bride.

Attending the bridegroom as best man was his brother, Rueben Shell of Detroit, Mich. The men wore light brown and tan business suits.

Immediate members of the families attended a reception at the Buchanan home immediately following the ceremony. The home was appropriately decorated with pink and white crepe streamers, and occasional baskets of flowers. The centerpiece of the bridal party’s table was a large three tier wedding cake.

The bride is a graduate of the Owen High School and for the past several years has been employed as a clerk at the Sexton Drug Store in Marshfield. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Ellen Shell of Marshfield and an employee of the Roddis Veneer and Lumber Co.

The young couple will be home to their friends in Marshfield.
