Voelker, William (31 July 1870 - 8 Sept. 1957)

William Voelker died Sunday morning at 9:15 A.M. at the age of 87 years at the St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where he was taken after suffering a stroke at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Agnes L. Schorer of Colby, with whom he had made his home for the past nine years.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Lulloff Funeral Home and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Rev. V. O. Grosshuesch officiated at the rites and pall bearers were Verland Schorer, Russ Nelson, Jerome Bauer, Burr Voelker, Charles Ohlinger and Burdette McNeul, all grand sons.

Mr. Voelker was born on July 31, 1870, in the town of Schleswig, Manitowoc county, and was married to the late Martha Sievert of Colman on March 5, 1892, at the Grover Lutheran church in the town of Colman. Twelve years later they moved to Colby, Wis. They also resided in Spencer where, in July of 1942, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Mrs. Voelker died on January 4, 1945.

Surviving, besides his daughter, Mrs. Schorer, are three sons, Alvin of Chili and Edwin and Walter of Marshfield; one sister, Mrs. Otto (Helen) Stoelting of Kiel; two brothers, Herman of Kiel and August of Colby; 15 grand children, 30 great grand children and three great, great grand children. Besides his wife, a daughter, Adalah, a brother, Fred, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Loos, preceded him in death.
