Lowe, Richard N. (16 May 1925 - 2008) With Flag

Richard N. "Dick" Lowe, 83, passed away peacefully at home in Olathe, KS.

Dick was born May 16, 1925, in Eau Claire. Upon graduation from Neillsville High School in 1943, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps, served as a pilot during WWII and retired from the Air Force Reserve as a major.

He returned to Wisconsin after the war and graduated from the Wisconsin College of Mortuary Science, becoming the family’s third-generation funeral director. Dick and Edna moved to Kansas and in 1967 opened Topsy’s Popcorn Shoppe in Overland park and ran a successful business for 25 years.

Dick was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Olathe, the Masons, American Legion, Abdullah Shrine Antique Car Unit, Plain Old A’s Classic Car club and the side by Side Singers.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Edna (Shaw); children, Jeff (Debbie) Lowe of Algonquin, IL, and Marie (Mark) Ferguson of St. Michael, MN; grandchildren, Ryan (Shawn) Lowe, Erin (Eric) Carlson and Matthew and Megan Ferguson; great-grandson, Elliott Lowe; brother, Bill (Betty) Lowe; and brother-in-law, Bob (Lorraine) Shaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George H. and Ella C. Lowe.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at the American Legion Hall in Neillsville.
