Szpara, Mary (12 APR 1947)

On Saturday afternoon April 12, 1947, at 2 o’clock, Mary Szpara, daughter of Mrs. Catherine Szpara, became the bride of Ted Stefan, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Stefan in a double ring ceremony performed by Rev. Adam Krokos at St. James Church in Chicago. She was given away by her cousin, Edward Czaplewski, who wore a tuxedo.

The bride wore a white slipper satin gown and a lace trimmed veil of silk illusion. She carried a bouquet of gardenias and sweet peas and an orchid in the center. She wore a pearl necklace.

Her bridesmaids, Emily Szpara, sister of the bride, and Lorraine Helizen, cousin of the groom, wore aqua gowns with blushers to match and carried Talisman roses. The matron of honor. Stella Czeropskiba, friend of the bride, and the flower girl, Barbara Stefan, niece of the groom wore aqua dresses with pink blushers and carried pink roses. They all wore gold lockets, gifts from the bride.

The groom chose as his attendants, his friends, Jim Carroll and Edward Halicki. They all wore tuxedoes with carnations boutonnieres.

The bride’s mother was dressed in aqua and the groom’s mother was dressed in blue. They each wore a corsage of gardenias.

At 6 o’clock a dinner was served tot eh immediate relatives at the Central Plaza Hotel.

After a short honeymoon to Wisconsin, the couple will make their home in Chicago.
