Meyers, August J. (17 Sept. 1865 - 28 Jan. 1935)

Funeral services for August J. Meyers were held at the Presbyterian Church, Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 2 P.M., Rev. L. C. Smith officiating. The pallbearers were Paul Waech, Frank Wing, Joe McCabe, William Daley, Charles Hoffman and Walter Jackson. Honorary pallbearers were Owen Hughes, Alex Ireland, Frank Stoughten and Tom Gibson. Internment was made in the Abbotsford cemetery. The W.B.A. were in charge of the flowers.

August Joseph Meyers was born in New York City, September 17, 1865. At the age of two his parents moved to Weyauwega and made that their home. Mr. Meyers came to Abbotsford in 1890. In 1893 he married Alice Smith who preceded him in death November 15, 1934.

For the past 43 years Mr. Meyers has been part of Abbotsford, Wis. He has been associated with the furniture and undertaking establishment, has served on the village board and at the time of his death was an active member of the board. He was a member of the local Odd Fellows and Modern Woodmen lodges.

Three children survive the deceased, two daughters, Mrs. Pearl Hamblin, Donners Grove, Ill., Mrs. Margaret Johnston, Menasha; a son, Don, San Diego, Calif., six grand children; two sisters, Mrs. C. Thompson, Mrs. A. Brightengross, Phillips; and one brother, George Meyers of Spokane, Washington.
