Greer, Donna L. (24 SEP 1947)

A very beautiful wedding was solemnized in Aurora, Colo., on Wednesday morning, Sept. 24, 1947, at St. Therese’s Church when Donna LaRae Greer, the daughter of Mrs. Gertrude Greer of Aurora, Colo., became the bride of Sgt. William C. Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Schmidt of Thorp (Clark Co.), Wis. Rev. I. Mertz performed the double ring ceremony at eight.

The bride, who was given away in marriage by her brother, Bulford Greer of Aurora, Colo. Was attired in a gown of white French Marie Marquisette lace with train and her fingertip veil was held in place by a crown of beaded orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white roses and gardenias.

Miss Greer was attended by Mrs. Bulford Greer, her sister-in-law, of Aurora, Colo., as matron of honor. She was attired in a gown of pink marquisette lace over satin with matching bonnet. She carried a bouquet of pink gladioli and roses.

Her bridesmaids were: Mrs. Arnold Mortensen, of Sheboygan, Wis., and Miss Adeline Schmidt of Thorp, Wis., sisters of the groom. The bridesmaids were attired in gowns of blue net over satin with matching bonnets. They carried bouquets of yellow gladioli and roses.

The flower girl was Carol Capeland of Aurora, Colo., a friend of the bride, who looked very lovely in a gown of pink net over satin with a matching bonnet. She carried a white basket of white rose buds.

The ring bearer, who marched with the flower girl, was Billy Miller of Aurora, Colo., friend of the bride. He wore a blue suit and carried a white pillow.

The groom was attended by his brother-in-law, Mr. Arnold Mortensen of Sheboygan, Wis., Mr. Alvin Mortensen of Seattle, Wash., and Sgt. Chester Gall from Lowry Field, Colo., friends of the groom. The groom and his attendants wore blue wool gabardine suits and white carnation boutonnieres.

The mother of the bride wore a brown crepe dress and the groom’s mother wore a black crepe dress and both wore corsages of gardenia and red roses.

A breakfast was served to immediate family after the ceremony at at Yucca Club, Aurora, Colo. The reception was held at the home of the bride’s brother, also at Aurora.

The bride and groom will reside at Aurora, Colo., after a honeymoon trip to Thorp and Sheboygan, Wis.

The bride is a graduate of the Aurora High School and also attended a beauty culture school at Denver, Colo.

Sgt. William Schmidt is a graduate of the Thorp High School and shortly after graduation served in the armed forces for three years. He was discharge on Dec. 26, 1945. Soon after his discharge he attended Sheboygan business College. March 2, 1947, he re-enlisted in the U. S. Army. He is stationed at Lowry Field, Colo.

Out of town guests attending the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Schmidt and daughter Adeline of Thorp, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Mortensen and daughter Jean Marie of Sheboygan, Wis.; Alvin Mortensen of Seattle, Wash., and Miss Viola Greer of Kansas.
