Schilling, Mr./Mrs. William (60th Anniv. - 31 Aug. 1958)

Mr. and Mrs. William Schilling of Colby, Route 1, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner Sunday noon, Aug. 31, in St. Mary’s school gym.

Mr. and Mrs. Schilling were married on July 7, 1898, but chose Sunday for their family gathering. They are in good health and are active in their daily duties around the farm home which they share with their son and family in the town of Frankfort.

The couple was married at St. Andrew’s Catholic church in Rozellville and lived in that community until about 18 years ago when they moved to a farm east of Colby, Wis. Mrs. Schilling, the former Catherine Boland, was born Feb. 28, 1880, in New York City and came to this vicinity at the age of five.

Mr. Schilling was born June 1, 1873, at Fox Lake and also moved to the Colby vicinity at the agee of five.

Those present at the dinner included their children, Mrs. George (Aurella) Kuhrt of Milwaukee, Mrs. Walter (Adeline) Siegel of Watertown, Sister M. Ervin of Milwaukee, Mrs. Joseph (Leone) Kurtz of Clear Water, Fla., Vernon Schilling of Milladore, William Schilling, Jr., of Stratford and Karl Schilling of Colby; 10 grand children, three great grand children; two brothers, Arthur Schilling of California and John Schilling of Colorado; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Christenson of Michigan and Mrs. William Burkath of Milwaukee, and their wives and husbands and children. One daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Fahy of Milwaukee and two sisters were unable to attend.
