Hallowell, Myra (13 OCT 1861 - 7 APR 1944)

After having been blessed with good health for 82 years, Mrs. Myra Hallowell died at 2:55 p.m. on Good Friday, Apr. 7. Elmira Brasure was born on Oct. 13, 1861, near Hartford. She was the youngest of a family of seven children. She was married to Sidney Hallowell on Dec. 17, 1884. To this union six children were born, two having preceded her in death.

In 1905 the family moved to Kansas, where they made their home for 14 years. From there they moved to Loyal, residing in the village for one year, then moving to the farm in the town of Unity, where they resided until 1940. She moved back to Loyal a few years after the death of her husband, who died on July 29, 1937. In June, 1943, she went to make her home with her daughter at Neenah.

Her recent illness was borne with patience. She was ready and willing to go.

Those who are left to mourn her departure are Charley and Arthur Hallowell of Marshfield, Mrs. Harold Wilkes of Neenah, Mrs. H. H. Wantland of Loyal, 19 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

Previous to the return of the body of Mrs. Hallowell to Loyal, short services were conducted by the Methodist minister in Neenah at a funeral home.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at 2 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. M. E. Taylor officiating. Burial was in the Pine Grove cemetery.

The hymns, "Safe in the Arms of Jesus" and "Back of the Clouds," were sung by Mrs., Ray Prior and Mrs. Calvin Prior, with Mrs. C. C. Taylor accompanying.

Thos who carried the flowers were Mrs. Percy Vincent, Mrs. Sigurd Johnson and Mrs. Jesse Spieles.

Pallbearers were Sigurd Johnson, Ray Prior, Percy Vincent, William Loppnow, Jesse Spieles and Walter Newman.

Those from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wilkes and daughter, Janice, of Neenah, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hallowell and children of Marshfield, and Miss Verla Wantland of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Tribune extends to the bereaved its sympathy in the loss of a loved one.
