Bitter, Ervin H. (30 Jan. 1890 - 28 Mar. 1959)

Ervin H. Bitter of Abbotsford, Wisconsin died Saturday afternoon at his home at the age of 69 years. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the First Presbyterian church, Rev. Lawrence Faivre officiating.

Mr. Bitter was born on January 30, 1890, in Sheboygan county. He lived in Abbotsford the past 28 years where he was a carpenter and construction foreman. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and of the First Presbyterian church. He served in the 3rd Infantry Division during World War I and was wounded in action. He was assessor of Abbotsford, Wis. He married Adeline Weetz at Marshfield August 6, 1926.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, John C. Bitter in the U.S. Air Force, and Melvin H. Bitter in the U.S. Army; six grand children; two brothers, Harvey of Abbotsford and Edgar of Iowa Falls, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Scheuerman of Abbotsford and Mrs. Alice Selzner of Chippewa Falls. One sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held last week Wednesday morning for Ervin Bitter at the Presbyterian church in Abbotsford, Rev. Lawrence Faivre officiating. Pall bearers were Homer Smith, Vern Dohm, Lyle Johnson, William Wyman, Leo Underwood and Ralph Bargenquast. Robert Lundahl sang "The Old Rugged Cross." At the graveside military rites he sang "My Buddy." The Veterans of Foreign Wars posts of Abbotsford, Colby and Wausau were in charge of the military rites with Casey Jones of Wausau as officer of the day. The V.F.W. Auxiliary had charge of the floral tributes.
