Berg, Andrew L. (2 MAY 1866 - 10 FEB 1949)

Andrew L. Berg, a resident of the Town of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.) since 1910, died at his home there on Feb. 10th of old age infirmities. He had reached the age of 82 years and 9 months.

Andrew Larson Berg was born in Stavanger, Norway on May 2, 1866. He came to America in 1877 and settled in Vernon Co., Wis., where he was united in marriage to Sophie Onsager on March 12, 1893. They moved to Thorp and settled on a farm in the Town of Worden in 1901 which has been his home continuously.

Mr. Berg was active in township affairs and served as a very efficient town supervisor and treasurer from 1911 to 1917 and as town clerk from 1917 to 1942, when his eyesight failed.

He is survived by his wife, Sophia, three sons, Robert of Bagley, Minn., Lawrence of Greenwood, Wis., and Alfred on the home farm; two daughters, (Tressie) Mrs. Lars Larson of Stanley, and (Alma) Mrs. C. J. Lemke of Neenah, Wis.; one brother, Enoch Berg in Norway; 20 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Two brothers preceded him in death in Norway.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. N. Midtlien at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church at Stanley, Monday afternoon at 2:00 o’clock. Interment was made in the East Side Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Harry Boie, Joe Miller, Vernon Reppert, Perry Kuhn, Oscar Moe and Harold Baumgarten.
