Voelker, Bertha (29 OCT 1868 - 1 MAY 1949)

Miss Bertha Voelker, 80, years of age, passed away at the home of her sister, Mrs. Pauline Wiltgen, on Sunday May 1st, 1949, of old age infirmities. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. A. M. Muckerheide at St. Bernard’s Church this morning at 9:30 for the deceased. An obituary will be published next week.

Miss Bertha Voelker was born at St. Anna, Wis., Oct. 29, 1868, where she made her home until May 1924, when she came to Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) to make her home with her sister, Mrs. Pauline Wiltgen. She passed away May 1st, 1949.

She is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Catherine Weber, Mrs. Pauline Wiltgen and Miss Margaret Voelker, of Thorp.

Funeral service, with a Solemn High Mass, were conducted at St. Bernard’s Church here by Rev. A. M. Muckerheide, assisted by Rt. Rev. Monsignor H. Seuther, Boyd, deacon, Rev. Frye, Edson, sub-deacon, and Rev. M. Mertens, La Crosse, master of ceremonies, at 9:30 o’clock Thursday, May 5th. Interment took place in St. Bernard’s Cemetery.

Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Gilbert A. Voelker, Joseph P. Voelker, Hilmar Voelker, Bernard Mertens, Francis Mertens and Ted Reiser.

Relative from out of town were: Rev. Michael Mertens, La Crosse; Mr. and Mrs. Hilmar Voelker and Mrs. Clara Voelker, St. Anna; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph P. Voelker, New Holstein; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Reiser, Reedsville; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Wiskerchen, Auburndale; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Weber, Madison, and Frank Jones, Altoona.
