Etta, Esther Marguerite (3 December 1899 - 13 January 1971)

Mrs. Esther M. Eta, 71, of Greenwood died suddenly of an apparent heart attack January 13, at her home, 208 E. Miller Street.

Mrs. Etta, the former Esther Marguerite La Gault, daughter of Henry and Valerie (Hebert) La Gault, was born December 3, 1899, in Longwood (Clark County). She was married August 27, 1920, in St. Paul, to Elmer J. Etta. They resided in Loyal, where her husband operated flour and feed store in partnership with his father and brother. In 1932, they began their own business in Washburn, retiring in 1949, when her husband suffered a stroke. Her husband died at the Grand Army Home at King on January 5, 1956. For the last several years Mrs. Etta had resided in Greenwood.

Surviving are a son, Robert James Etta of Chicago, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. George (Valerie Ann) Humke, Jr., of Sterling, Ill.; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Buker and Mrs. Marcia Palms, both of Greenwood.

Funeral services were held January 16, from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood. The Rev. Leander Koopman officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Cy Buker, Vernon Mech, Mike Mech, Don Warner, Ferdinand Langreck and Douglas La Gault.

Relatives from away who attended were Mr. and Mrs. Douglas La Gault, Appleton; Mr. and Mrs. Gordon La Gault, Stevens Point; Mr. and Mrs. George Humke, Sterling, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Etta and Mrs. Jack Reagon, Chicago, Ill.; Dale Stabnow and Mrs. Perry Volk, Wisconsin Dells; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Buker, West Allis; and Miss Vicki Mech, who attends St. Mary’s College in Indiana.
