Stone, Joyce Elaine (Marriage - 3 September 1950)

Miss Joyce Elaine Stone, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Edward P. Stone of Boscobel, became the bride of Roger E. Garner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Garner of Blue River, Wis., on September 3, 1950 at the Methodist Church at Boscobel. Rev. E. P. Stone, father of the bride, officiated at the double ring ceremony. Vows were exchanged before an altar banked with baskets of gladioli, and lighted by candelabras.

The bride was given in marriage by her brother Paul. She wore a white slipper satin gown fashioned with a bertha collar, yoke of Chantilly lace, long sleeves and train. She carried a colonial bridal bouquet of white roses.

Her matron of honor was her sister-in-law, Mrs. Leslie Stone of Cleveland, Ohio. Miss Ellen Bagley, of Waterloo, Iowa, acted as maid of honor. They were dressed in identical gowns of American Beauty rose moiré and aqua, respectively. They carried colonial bouquets of white glads and American Beauty roses.

A friend of the groom, Gale Meky of Blue River, acted as best man. Leslie Stone of Cleveland, Ohio, a brother of the bride, served as groomsman. Taylor Garner, Blue River, and Ralph Wangen of Boscobel were ushers. Donald Stone, a brother of the bride, sang two selections, accompanied by Mrs. Charles Clark.

Immediately following the ceremony a reception for 250 guests was held in the church parlors, which were tastefully decorated with garden flowers. After a honeymoon trip in northern Wisconsin the young couple will be at home at Platteville. Both the bride and groom are juniors in Platteville State Teachers College.
