Schauss, Henry (21 Nov. 1890 - 1 Oct. 1960)

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Zion Lutheran church for Henry Schauss who died unexpectedly of a heart attack Saturday afternoon at 5:30 o’clock. Rev. William R. Christian officiated at the services and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Veterans of Foreign Wars of Colby conducted military rites. Pall bearers were William Tesmer, William Hackel, Rhiny Voge of Chippewa Falls, Arnold Waldhart and Ronald Pitzke of Stetsonville and Donald DuPree of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Mr. Schauss was born on November 21, 1890, in Mequon. As a child, he moved with his parents to Dorchester where they operated a farm. After his marriage to Marie Beawer on November 27, 1920, they moved to Colby, Wis. He was a veteran of World War I and served overseas. He was a member of Zion Lutheran church, The Men’s Club of Foreign Wars. He farmed in the Colby area and later participated in other occupational activities.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Thelma) Kunick of Colby, a brother, John Schauss of Wausau; three sisters, Mrs. Ed Jenz of Merrill, Mrs. William Werth of Eau Claire and Mrs. Edna Waldhart of Colby, and three grand children. Three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

Many relatives and friends were here for the funeral from Wisconsin, Illinois and Indiana.

Mr. Schauss was well known in Colby, Wisconsin for his industrious and Christian character and as a man who always endeavored to perform his duties honestly and well.
