Geiger, Elizabeth Jane (Pollack) (June 22, 1925 - February 1, 2009)

Elizabeth Jane Geiger, 83, Colby, passed away Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Golden Living Center Continental Manor in Abbotsford where she had resided since July 25, 2001.

Elizabeth was born June 22, 1925 in Hiles, to John and Margaret (Fairfield) Pollack. She attended a rural country school near Hiles, until the 8th grade.

She married Bernard H. Geiger on May 5, 1942 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester, Wis. He passed away April 10, 1996.

After her marriage to Bernie they farmed in the town of Hull until their retirement. Elizabeth was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and of an area square dance club. Her children can attest to the wonderful foods and desserts and breads she cooked and baked. She canned everything from vegetables from the garden to meats from the farm. In her spare time Elizabeth enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles.

Elizabeth is lovingly survived by her children; Shirley (Allen) Baehr, Sun Prairie, Gerald Geiger, Kiel, Robert (Jane) Geiger, Medford, Jean (Ken) Bores, Marshfield, Ronald (Barbara) Geiger, Curtiss, Elaine (Gary) Blasel, Dorchester and Dennis Geiger, Colby, Wis.

She is further survived by 43 grandchildren, 80 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; two sisters, Alice Kittl, Stratford and Rose Ludwig, Lavalle; and one brother, Kenneth (Bernadine) Pollack, Colby; also survived by many other relatives and friends. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son in infancy; and two grandsons, Ryan and Todd.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 6, 2009 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby, Wis. The Rev Anandran Rajendran will preside. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in the town of Colby, Wis. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and on Friday at the church in Colby from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
