Stelter, Ottilie (18 August 1880 - 26 February 1971)

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred (Ottilie) Stelter, 90, formerly of Neillsville, who died February 26 at the Glendale Nursing Home in Milwaukee, were held Tuesday, March 2, at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran
Church in Neillsville. The Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiated and burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery. The Georgas Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Stelter, the daughter of Wilhelm and Justine (Grauman) Fritz, was born August 18, 1880, in Russia, where she received her education. Her marriage to Fred a. Stelter took place in Tiotowich, Russia, on July 13, 1900. He died on January 12, 1958. The Stelters came to the United States in 1906, where Mr. Stelter worked in the furniture factory in Neillsville and for the city before locating on an area farm. They retired to the city in 1943. Mrs. Stelter left Neillsville in 1966 to live with her daughters. She was a resident of the Glendale Nursing Home for the last three years. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville.

Survivors include seven children, Emil Stelter of La Crosse, Oscar Stelter of Wood, Mrs. Emma Doss of Milwaukee, Mrs. Herman (Bertha) Gloff of Elmhurst, Ill., Mrs. Leonard (Alvina) Hinkley of Milwaukee, Miss Rosaly Stelter of Milwaukee, and Frederick Stelter of Neillsville; 27 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were her grandsons, Frederick, Jr., Robert, Alton, James, Lester, and Eugene Stelter.

The children of St. John’s Lutheran School sang. They were accompanied by Victor Lehmann.

Searles, all of Milwaukee; Oscar Stelter, Wood; Herman Gloff, Elmhurst, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. David Herron and Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Blaskowski, Marshfield; Mrs. Bertha Brueggman and son, John of Appleton; Mrs. Richard Kren, Watertown; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Nickel and Lois, Nekoosa; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Stelter, Sparta; Mrs. Glen Anderson, La Crosse; Robert Stelter, Beloit; Alton Stelter, Afton; James Stelter, Lester Stelter, Eugene Stelter, Mrs. Sid Wheeler, and Mrs. Eugene Hoard, all of Janesville; Mr. and Mrs. William Nevin, Marie and Steven, and Mr. and M Rs. Neal Nottestad, Cashton.
