Klouda, Joseph #2 (28 NOV 1866 - 28 AUG 1950)

Joseph Klouda, 83, retired Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) businessman passed away at his home in the city of a heart ailment on Monday, Aug. 28, 1950.

Mr. Klouda, who was born in Drasof, Moravia, on Nov. 28, 1866, came to this country and the village of Thorp in the year 1899, where he started in his trade of shoemaker. He continued the business for many years until his retirement about 18 years ago. He was active in civic affairs, served as village president for a number of years and as director of the Peoples Exchange Bank until his death. He was a member of the local Independent Order of Odd Fellows.

On Nov. 17, 1889, he was united in marriage to Anna Plevac in Drasof, Moravia, who survives him. Others left to mourn are: three sons, Carl of Wis. Rapids, Frank of Madison and William J. of Thorp; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Zimmerman of Ladysmith; one sister, Mrs. Mary Alshwonk of Moscow, Russia and one brother, Carl Klouda of Thorp.

Last rites were conducted by Rev. Glick at the Thorp Funeral Home at 2:00 o’clock Wednesday afternoon with interment taking place in the East Thorp Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ross Lawrence, Dr. G. A. Schief, John Papierniak, Frank Broeren, Jack Borowick and Dick Coates.
