Greenwood (11 March 1971)

Mrs. Sadie Jacobson and daughter, Betty, returned to Milwaukee Sunday. They came to attend the funeral of their sister and aunt, Mrs. Adolph Wolske, Thursday in Abbotsford and visited here with Mrs. Jacobson’s sisters, Mrs. Alice Perkins and Mrs. Olive Newman.

Mrs. Vincent Sowieja received word Tuesday of the death of her only sister, Mrs. Harold Rodahl, 64, Mrs. Rodahl died in a hospital in Milwaukee, three and one-half hours after she was admitted there. Funeral services were held in Milwaukee Friday morning.

Mrs. Idagene Simonson of West Allis spent the weekend with her father, Oscar Meinholdt, and in Neillsville with her mother, who is a surgical patient at Memorial Hospital since February 20.

Mrs. Lee Corey returned here Sunday after spending a week at the home of her son, Gary Corey and family in Neillsville.

Mr. and Mrs. Lee Meinholdt of Milwaukee visited during the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Meinholdt of Greenwood and Mrs. Art mattes of Thorp.

Ignatz Koschak is a patient at the hospital in Marshfield since February 23.

Mrs. Alice Speich was admitted Monday morning to the hospital in Marshfield.

Tuesday afternoon visitors at the Ignatz Koschak home were her brother and sister-ion-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Francel of Willard

The American Legion Auxiliary will meet Monday evening, March 15, in the Legion Hall. Hostesses will be Mrs. Victor Diercks, Mrs. E. L. Cook, Mrs. Lee Corey, Mrs. Harry Gordee and Miss Avis Gordee.

The Greenwood Satellites 4-H club will meet at St. Mary’s Hall Monday evening, March 15. A lunch will be served by the John Gatz and Ramond Gregorich families.

Anason, Airman Kevin J. (Service Notes - 1985)

Airman Kevin J. Anason, son of Lamoine A. and Carol J. Anason, Rt. 1 Neillsville, has been assigned to Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, after completing Air Force basic training. During the six weeks at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special training in human relations. In addition, airmen who completed basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force. The airman will now receive specialized instruction in the aircraft maintenance field. He is a 1985 graduate of Neillsville High School.

Fischer, Mary Beth (BS Degree - 1985)

Mary Beth Fischer, daughter of Richard and Betty Fischer, Merrillan, recently received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

She was a senior honor student majoring in physical education, with minors in the field of health and coaching. She served as president of the Physical Education Majors and Minors Club for two years and received the Student of the Quarter and Student of the Year Award in physical education.

Garbisch Family Reunion (21 July 1985)

A Garbisch reunion was held July 21 at Granton Community Park, Granton, for the descendants of George Garbisch I., and more than 200 people attended. People arrived from the Gottlieb Garbisch, Suzanna Schneider and John Garbisch families.

People came from as far north as Anchorage, Alaska, and as far south as Carrolton, Georgia. Others attended from Milwaukee, Marshfield, Granton, Athens, Neillsville, Plymouth, Pewaukee, Sun Prairie, Superior, Waupaca, Chili, Arpin, Burlington, Ogdenburg, Wausau, Loyal, McFarland, Stoughton, Appleton, Cedarburg, Eau Claire, Racine, Superior, New Berlin and Eden Prairie, Minnesota.

Leona Tucker, Norma Gottschalk, Lavon Bartsch and Fritz Garbisch related information about the Garbisch generations.

Next year’s Garbisch reunion will be held near Necedah, Wisconsin at Paul Garbisch’s resort on July 27, 1986.

Grall, Thomas (Service Notes - 1985)

Thomas Grall, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harley Grall, Neillsville, is scheduled to enter active duty in the United States Air Force on December 30, 1985.

Tom is a 1981 graduate of Illinois Conant High School. Upon graduation from the Air Force’s six-week basic training course, he is scheduled to receive technical training as an Administrative Specialist.

Kuester, Ursula Lee (Special Award - 1985)

Ursula Lee Kuester received a Certificate of Special Commendation in recognition for superior accomplishments and significant contributions to community life in Wisconsin. The presentation was the culmination of many awards for outstanding achievements in local organizations and community work. Honoring Ursula Lee with the award was the director of the Wisconsin State Fair and the president of Security Savings and Loan Association, of Milwaukee. Ursula Lee is a member of the Clark County Extension Homemakers, and is enrolled in the Oakland Homemaker Club in the Thorp Center.

She credits most of her achievements to her many years of involvement in Extension Homemaking.

Multhauf, Airman Marshall L. (Service Notes - 1985)

Airman Marshall L. Multhauf, son of Sylvester P. and Eunice M. Multhauf, of Rt. 2 Greenwood, has completed Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. The airman, who is remaining at Lackland for specialized training in the security police field, studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special instruction in human relations. Completion of this training earned Multhauf credits toward an associate degree on applied science through the Community College of Air Force. He is a 1985 graduate of Owen-Withee High School.

Sondregger, Martha (Nurse of the Year - 1985)

Martha Sondregger, R. N., formerly of Greenwood, has been named “Nurse of the Year” by the CASE organization of Florida. CASE is a group of consultants, administrators, and educators who work together in public health nursing. Sondregger is the assistant county nursing director at the Dade County Public Health Department, which serves the Miami area. She has worked for Dade County the past 25 years including stints organizing special health units for the refugees of the Cuban boatlift and later for refugees from Haiti. Sondregger graduated from Greenwood High School in 1940. A sister, Mrs. Donald Wells, still resides at Rt. 1 Greenwood.

Turner Family Reunion (11 August 1985)

A Turner family reunion was held on Sunday, August 11, at the Milton Schoenfeld home at Neillsville.

Those in attendance were Beverly Eggleston, Stanton, California; Wilbur and Ina Turner, Kirkland, Illinois; John Falcone, Addison, Illinois; Victor and Ruth Turner, Wis. Rapids, and the following from Neillsville: Milton and June Schoenfeld, Mabel Schoenfeld, Margaret and George Turner, Clayton and Olga Turner, Harriet Triska, Orville and Jean Turner, Irene Turner, Larry and Jan Turner, Geoff and Laura Turner, and Donald and Kathy Turner and Steve and Barbara Miller.

Voigt, Tim A. (Order of the Blue Vase - 1985)

Tim A. Voigt, Neillsville, recently qualified for membership om The Rural Companies’ prestigious “Order Of The Blue Vase.” This award honors those individual agents, who through qualifying as members, have demonstrated excellent sales performance during the four month period immediately following participation in Rural’s Career Schools. Voigt joins 80 other agents on the Blue Vase Honor Roll.

Mr. Voigt, with the Marshfield Service Center, serves Clark County, is a member of the National Association of Life Underwriters, and has completed Rural’s Career Schools I and II.

He and his wife, Carla, reside at 412 Court Street, Neillsville.
